Sonoma Jet Center will host its 2nd Annual Open House on Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Sonoma Jet Center facility at the Charles M. Schulz – Sonoma County Airport in Santa Rosa, Calif. The Open House is free and open to all.

“Our open house is an opportunity for everyone in Sonoma County to come out and enjoy the best of what the Sonoma County Airport has to offer. From seminars for experienced pilots to airplane rides and lessons for beginners, we will have something for everyone. Whether you are an experienced aviator or someone who looks longingly at the sky wishing to fly, we hope you will join us at the open house.” says Josh Hochberg, owner of Sonoma Jet Center.

One highlight of the Open House is FREE airplane rides for young people. The local chapter of the Experimental Aviation Association is hosting a Young Eagles event to give interested young people, ages 8?17, an opportunity to go flying in a general aviation airplane. These flights are offered free of charge and are made possible through the generosity of EAA member volunteers. Reservations are highly recommended and can be made by emailing: SherYoungEagles@aol.com.

No matter your age, you can still buy a ride at the Open House. Helicopter rides will be available from Sonoma Helicopter and airplane rides and introductory flying lessons will be available from the local flight schools, North Coast Air and Dragonfly Aviation.

The Open House will also feature a wide variety of aircraft representing all segments of aviation as well as a great collection of classic cars on display. Scheduled workshops and demonstrations include learning to fly, the air traffic controller perspective, building an aircraft, and flying a helicopter. For pilots, there will be courses offered for FAA WINGS credit. There will also be door prizes, contests, and kid’s activities.

A hot dog lunch will be available for $5 to support the Pacific Coast Air Museum.
